Some thoughts on marriage

I'm reading a book called "Sacred Marriage" by Gary Thomas. Its really great and I highly recommend it. Here are some quotes that I think are worth sharing.

"Marriage is the operation by which a woman's vanity and a man's egotism are extracted without anesthetic." - Helen Rowland

"One of the best wedding gifts God gave you was the full-length mirror called your spouse. Had there been a card attached, it would have said, 'Here's to helping you discover what you're really like!'" - Gary and Betsy Ricucci

"Sometimes what is hard to take in the first years of marriage is not what we find out about our partners, but what we find out about ourselves." -Kathleen and Thomas Hart

"What marriage has done for me is hold up a mirror to my sin. It forces me to face myself honestly and consider my character flaws, selfishness, and anti-Christian attitudes, encouraging me to be sanctified and cleansed and to grow in godliness." -Gary Thomas

"Don't give in to the temptation to resent your partner as your own weaknesses are revealed. Correspondingly, give them the freedom and acceptance they need in order to face their own weaknesses as well. In this way, we can use marriage as a leg up, a piercing spiritual mirror, designed for our sanctification and growth in holiness." -Gary Thomas
